Same Site. Same 10-Hour Shift. Two Very Different Days.
Follow two tradies through the same long shift — and spot which day looks like yours.
Macca and Davo. Both sparkies. Same crew, same site, same hours, same boss with the same bad jokes.
One difference: what's in their lunch bag.
Slaps together a ham sandwich. Wraps it, chucks it in the esky. Already knows it'll taste like disappointment.
Tips last night's spag bol into a stainless tray. Clips the lid. Ten seconds, done.
Cold, flat sandwich. Eaten in four bites. Still hungry, buys chips and a Coke off the coffee van.
Flicks the clips — steam rolls off the spag bol. Set the timer at 9. Hot meal, zero effort, actually full.
Starving again. Drives to the servo. Pie, sausage roll, energy drink. Fifteen bucks. Back late.
Still running on a real feed. Coffee, a stretch, straight back into it.
Sugar's worn off. Head's foggy, measurements getting checked twice. Third energy drink of the day.
Steady. No spike, no crash. Just cruises through the arvo.
Wrecked. Grabs drive-through on the way home because cooking feels impossible. Couch by 7.
Tired — it's a 10-hour day — but with fuel left in the tank. Gym, kids, or just a proper evening.
The Only Difference Between These Two Days?
30 quiet minutes in a lunch bag.
Davo owns a Yakka Heating Lunchbox — a battery-powered lunchbox that heats last night's dinner to around 70°C while he works. No microwave, no power point, no queue.
Pack it — last night's dinner straight into the stainless tray
Set the timer — before you pick up the tools
Eat hot — steaming and ready right at smoko
It's tough enough for the ute, seals tight enough for the kit bag, runs a full shift on an overnight charge — and yes, the battery charges your phone too.
"Use it every day on-site. Chuck it in the work bag, set the timer and lunch is hot by break time. Absolute game changer during long shifts."
